The Hawaiian Festival Lunch Buffet, a beloved highlight of Sapporo’s summer, returns this year on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Now in its third season, this much-anticipated event has won the hearts of many guests as an opportunity to enjoy the vibrant food culture of Hawaii — nurtured by its sun and sea — in a refined hotel dining setting, perfectly suited to Hokkaido’s brief yet brilliant summer.

This year, an enriched lineup brings even more depth to the flavours of Hawaii. Alongside signature favourites such as Ahi Poke, Lomi-Lomi Salmon, Kalua Pig and Cabbage (a local dish of slow-steamed pork simmered with cabbage), Garlic Shrimp, and Loco Moco, this season introduces new additions including the plate lunch staple Mac Salad, Fried Saimin (Hawaiian-style stir-fried noodles), Mahi-Mahi Herb Cutlet featuring the white fish so loved across the islands, the Hawaiian Aloha BBQ Corner, and our chef’s daily-inspired pizza. For desserts, indulge in traditional Hawaiian Haupia pudding made with coconut milk, the vividly colourful Hawaiian Rainbow Shaved Ice, and other delights that bring the spirit of a tropical summer to your table.

To further enrich your dining experience, an Aloha Hula Performance by local hula schools from Sapporo and its surrounding areas will be held twice during each lunch service (12:30 and 13:00). The gentle melodies and graceful movements of hula fill the restaurant with the warm atmosphere of the Hawaiian Islands.

A new style of afternoon tea with savories taking the leading role — the Hokkaido Summer Afternoon Tea — will be available for a limited time at Hotel Sosei Sapporo MGallery Collection.

While afternoon tea traditionally places sweets at center stage, this experience turns convention on its head by making savories the star. Seven savory creations brimming with the seasonal flavors of Hokkaido’s summer are joined by sweets such as a melon macaron and lavender cake, and crowned by a parfait that elevates Sapporo’s own “shime-parfait” culture to hotel quality — together forming an entirely new style of afternoon tea.

The very ground on which Hotel Sosei Sapporo MGallery Collection stands is where, in 1876, the Kaitakushi Brewery — the forerunner of Sapporo Beer — was born. Just as summer in Hokkaido has always been accompanied by beer, the welcome drink for this experience may be chosen from sparkling wine or Sapporo Classic Beer. A new style of “afternoon tea that pairs beautifully with beer” begins right here.

The savory selection features seven dishes, including a Hokkaido hanasaki crab and asparagus quiche, Hokkaido octopus à la gallega, “The Twilight Corn Wagon” — an homage to the beloved corn wagons of Odori Park — and Hokkaido chicken spiced fritters that carry on Sapporo’s soup curry heritage. With its rich, savory and lightly salted composition, the lineup pairs perfectly with a chilled beer. Playful, photogenic touches appear throughout, such as a light-green macaron adorned with chocolate work evoking a melon vine. To finish, savor the Hokkaido Melon Shime-Parfait — generously crowned with juicy Hokkaido melon — as an elegant afternoon coda.

In a refined setting, enjoy an afternoon tea that lets you savor the Sapporo summer with all five senses. Perfect for treasured moments with loved ones, or for reunions with friends and family returning home from afar.

On each of the two evenings, Michihiro Watabe will take his place behind the counter at our Bar Lounge. Savour the distinctive creations of Bar Tradition — including “Tradition,” his award-winning brandy-based competition cocktail; the “Sanshō & Cardamom Spiced Gin & Tonic”; and the smoke-kissed “Smoked Boulevardier” — each mixed before your eyes. The quiet rhythm of ice and shaker, the rising aromas, and the curling smoke create a multisensory hour of mixology to be savoured.

Set around a fireplace inspired by a copper beer kettle, our Bar Lounge reflects the pioneering heritage of this land. It is open to hotel guests and non-staying visitors alike — whether for an after-work drink or a relaxed evening with friends.

This year marks a special milestone for MGallery Collection, as it ventures beyond the glass for the first time — into a bold culinary dialogue where mixology meets Michelin-starred gastronomy. At the heart of this collaboration is Chef “Pam” Pichaya Soontornyanakij, owner-chef of Bangkok’s Michelin-starred restaurant Potong. Named The World’s Best Female Chef 2025 and Asia’s Best Female Chef 2024, she is one of the most celebrated voices in contemporary gastronomy.

Her culinary philosophy — rooted in contrast, balance and storytelling — is guided by the concept of five flavours and five emotions, where taste becomes memory and texture becomes emotion.
